ITC Century is an updated version of century magazine (1896) and Century schoolbook. It is more legible and adds flare with the long tail on the Q. Linoletter was released for fast producing electric publishing. It was published for legibility and the counter x height. Together they are a great pair because they are both bracketed and modeled. Linoletter’s clear legibility allows ITC century to show off some flare in bigger sizes. They’re commond slenderness counters and hight x height allows for extennsive printing.

Avenir is Translated from future in French is a geometric san serif made to be more balanced than futura. It has a differnt Q y and j that gives it a different spacing. Together they embody the love of geometry. They please readers with big almost circular counters. They also have a medium x height.
Univers is a neo-grostesque san serif concieved as a compolete system for metal and photosetting. It is a departure from futura’s sverity and Helvetica’s invisibility. Glypha is a condesed slab serif adjusted for Futiger’s Serifa. Gylpha was released in 1967 after the basic forms of Univers. They share ascender/descender heights, tall x-heights, open counters, closed apertures, and a slanted lowercase t. Gylpha has feminine spurs and angular feet, while Univers is known for its compression capabilities.
